Fireman’s Park Pavilion Wedding | Alexis & Alex

Some places carry a whole town’s history inside their walls, and Fireman’s Park Pavilion in Columbus is one of them. Our Milwaukee wedding photographers love spots with this much heart. The pavilion stands inside Fireman’s Park on Park Avenue in Columbus, a small city in Columbia County. It is a short drive from Madison and an easy trip from Milwaukee, which makes it simple for guests to reach.

The park has a fun backstory. Back in 1915, the people of Columbus asked for more parkland, and the local volunteer fire department took on the project. Neighbors donated money and time, and many of the improvements were built by local volunteers. In June of 1917, the town opened its big wooden pavilion with a record breaking dance. For years, firefighters looked after those community dances, and the hall quickly became the center of local life.

Today the whole park complex is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Next to the pavilion is Rest Haven, a Prairie School style building from 1923, plus a historic stone wall and gates. The pavilion itself is a large wood hall with a classic, old fashioned feel, and it has been nicely updated over the years. Columbus still holds its Fourth of July celebration in this park, so it truly feels like a hometown gathering place. For couples who live in Columbus, a wedding here means saying yes in the heart of their own community. The open hall and leafy park lawns also give lots of room for games, dancing, and relaxed photos.

A Hometown Wedding for Alexis & Alex

Alexis and Alex met in college. At first she thought he was just another hockey player from Canada, until she learned he had lived only a short drive from her for her whole life! They have been together since January 2021, and they now own a home in Columbus with their dog, Morri. They love anything outdoors, from hiking to fishing to paddling down the river. Their wedding style was wildflowers, bright colors, and a light hearted mood. They told us they are not perfectionists and simply wanted in the moment photos of a day filled with love.

That is music to our ears. As a wedding photographer team, we love couples who want real, joyful moments over stiff poses. Our studio is based in Milwaukee, and we cover weddings across the whole state of Wisconsin, from big city halls to small town parks. Want to see more relaxed, colorful celebrations? Clear audio from your vows and speeches keeps every word easy to hear.

Our videographers travel all over Wisconsin, including Columbus, Madison, Watertown, and Oconomowoc. We shape every film around your style and the way your families celebrate, so no two videos ever look the same. Many couples tell us their wedding film is the keepsake they revisit most.
