FAR Center for Contemporary Arts Wedding | Leisa & TC

A wedding inside an arts center? Yes, please! The FAR Center for Contemporary Arts in Bloomington, Indiana is one of the most creative spaces we know. As Indianapolis wedding photographers, we love when a venue feels like a work of art on its own. This one sits on the west end of the downtown Arts District, right at Fourth and Rogers. It has a cool, modern feel with a lot of heart. If you love art, music and a bit of city energy, you will feel right at home.

The building has a great backstory. It was built in 1925 as a neighborhood grocery store. Years later, it was carefully turned into an arts space while keeping its historic features. Today the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts hosts exhibits, film screenings, live music and workshops. It is also home to Pictura Gallery, which shows contemporary fine art photography. Every wedding held here helps support the local arts community. We think that makes a wedding here feel even more meaningful.

Couples get four spaces in one place: a theater, a gallery, a library and a garden. They all connect through an open atrium with a bar. The theater seats up to one hundred fifty guests and has two big garage doors that open to the street. The library makes a lovely spot to get ready, and the garden adds some fresh air. Bars, restaurants and hotels are all within walking distance, which guests love.

Leisa and TC’s Industrial Romantic Wedding

Leisa and TC met on the Bumble dating app. Sometimes a simple swipe changes everything! These days they enjoy gardening and watching their favorite shows at home. They are usually surrounded by their two cats and two dogs, which sounds like the coziest life ever. We love a love story that started with one brave message.

Their theme was industrial romantic, and it fit this space perfectly. Exposed brick, metal beams and concrete floors set a bold stage. Then they added a rich mix of colors: eggplant purple, rose red, burnt orange, antique pink, cream and sage green. Those jewel tones against brick and wood look stunning in photos. It is a great example of a couple making a space truly their own. Nothing about it felt ordinary.
