Small town charm meets a fresh, modern space at The Midway, and we were so excited to be there for Sarah and Drew. Our Minneapolis wedding photographers love a good road trip, and this one took us south to Kasson. The Midway sits on the Dodge County Fairgrounds, just a short drive from Rochester. It is one of the newest event spaces in the area, and it brings a fun, hometown feel to every celebration.

The building opened in 2024, so everything feels clean and new. Inside, an open floor plan gives couples plenty of room to make the space their own. Some couples keep it simple and bright. Others fill it with string lights, greenery and warm wood details. The venue can host large groups, which makes it a great pick for couples with big families and lots of friends.

What makes The Midway extra special is where it lives. The fairgrounds around it offer open grass, wide skies and classic county fair buildings. That mix of country setting and modern hall gives couples options. They can say their vows outside in the fresh air, then move indoors for dinner, toasts and dancing. Parking is right on site, which makes the day easy for guests too.

Sarah and Drew’s Hometown Celebration

Sarah and Drew met on Hinge about four years ago. Sarah was a tattoo artist in Minneapolis, and she moved her business to Rochester so they could officially move in together. Drew is a personal trainer in Rochester. They share four dogs, a love for movie nights and a big interest in fitness. Most of all, they are best friends.

Their plans for the day were casual but sentimental. They wanted an outdoor ceremony on open grass, with cocktail hour and the reception inside. Their colors were black, white and green, with ferns, greenery garland, wood tones and gold accents. They chose only white flowers and hoped for warm string lights. Family and friends mean so much to them, and they wanted the wedding to feel like a thank you to everyone they love.

We adore weddings like this. When a couple cares this much about their guests, the whole room feels it. As photographers, we watch for the hugs, the happy tears and the big laughs during toasts. We also love capturing the quiet moments, like a hand squeeze before the vows. Those images become family treasures.
