Our DC engagement photographer had the absolute joy of capturing Victoria and James’ engagement session. There is something so beautiful about an engagement session that feels like a date rather than a photo shoot. Victoria and James’ session at Manassas National Battlefield Park had exactly that feeling. After meeting in college and reconnecting after graduation, the couple went on a first date that lasted ten hours. They clearly have the kind of connection that makes spending time together feel effortless. For their engagement photos, they kept things natural, romantic, and relaxed, spending time together outdoors and enjoying the beautiful Virginia landscape.

Victoria’s floral mini dress and James’ casual button-down and khaki pants were perfect for the setting. Their outfits felt polished without being overly formal, allowing the focus to stay on their connection. The soft floral pattern of Victoria’s dress also looked beautiful against the warm greens and golden grasses throughout the battlefield.

Manassas National Battlefield Park gives couples plenty of room to explore and create a gallery with different looks. The wide-open fields are perfect for romantic walking photos, playful moments, and portraits surrounded by tall grasses. As the sunlight gets lower, the open landscape becomes especially beautiful, with warm light creating a soft glow around the couple. We love using this kind of natural backlighting for dreamy, intimate images.

Victoria and James looked right at home walking hand in hand through the landscape, laughing together, stopping for a kiss, and simply enjoying each other.
