Gardens, a grain silo and a herd of fluffy Highland cows were waiting for us at Wisteria Gardens. As Seattle wedding photographers, we love any excuse to head north to Anacortes. This peaceful venue sits on ten acres of private land, surrounded by trees and open sky. It feels tucked away and quiet, yet it is still an easy drive from the city. The moment you arrive, you can feel yourself slow down.

Wisteria Gardens is a year round venue with lovely gardens and some truly unique buildings. The main event barn is about five thousand square feet and can seat up to two hundred guests. It has an elevated rustic style that feels warm without being too plain. Inside the barn, there is a room for the bride to get ready. Across the property, a custom built log cabin is set aside just for the groom.

The details are what make this place so memorable. The old silo has been turned into the bar, which guests always love. A playhouse keeps little ones busy, and barnyard chickens wander nearby. Then there are the Scottish Highland cows, who are happy to say hello to anyone who stops by. With indoor and outdoor spaces to choose from, Wisteria Gardens truly feels like the Pacific Northwest at its coziest.

Rachel and Matt’s Relaxed Brunch Wedding

Rachel and Matt met while serving in the military, and today they are stationed together in Maryland. When they are not working, they love going to sporting events, cooking, working out and taking care of their dog. They are a team in every sense of the word. We are so grateful for their service and so happy they chose us to capture their wedding.

Their plans were all about feeling relaxed. Rachel and Matt told us they are not big dancing or party people, so they wanted an easy, hang out kind of day. Since it was an early wedding, they planned brunch instead of dinner. Dusty blue was their main color, with a few other shades of blue mixed in. And of course, they wanted some photos with the Highland cows!

Our studio is based in Seattle, and we photograph and film weddings across the entire state of Washington. Anacortes and the Skagit Valley are some of our favorite places to work.
