The property sits just outside Portland, close enough for city guests but far enough to feel like a real escape. A four acre lake is the heart of the land. The ceremony field looks right over the water, and the views stretch in every direction. Two modern rustic barns sit on the property. The upper barn is great for a ceremony or cocktail hour, while the lower barn has big garage doors that open up to the lake for the reception.

The owner, Mark, spent years building Brightwater by hand so the barns blend with the land. His partner Kristina added her own touches, like the bar areas, a groom’s room, and a lovely bridal suite. With indoor and outdoor options, couples can plan with confidence, rain or shine, which really matters in Oregon.

Emma and Nicholas Bring Retro Fun to Oregon City

Emma and Nicholas met in 2015 while working in the dining room at a retirement community. They both still work at Mary’s Woods, where Nick is a cook and Emma works in human resources. They started dating in 2017, then spent a year apart while Nick took classes in Los Angeles and Emma finished her degree at PSU. That time apart brought them even closer, and Nick proposed during a visit.

Their wedding had a retro vintage, seventies vibe with disco balls and fun colors. Burnt orange, shades of green, burgundy, and hints of yellow made everything pop against the barn wood. As a wedding photographer, we loved how playful it felt. This couple loves games, movies, camping, cooking together, and tennis, and that fun energy showed.
