San Mateo Rose Garden wedding days are always a joy to capture. Located in the heart of San Mateo Central Park, this stunning outdoor space is one of our favorite spots for intimate celebrations. With its winding paths, colorful blooms, and charming gazebos, it’s a dream location for wedding photography. Every corner of the garden feels peaceful and full of natural beauty, perfect for couples who want a romantic and relaxed day surrounded by nature. We love photographing here because the light, flowers, and soft greenery make every photo look timeless and full of emotion.
Shilaan and Jake’s celebration was the perfect match for this beautiful setting. Their story started at Stanford, where they met in 2018 while beginning their PhD program. During a retreat at Lake Tahoe, they connected for the first time while hiking—a moment that grew into something truly special. They share a love for the outdoors, movies, games, and spending time with family and friends. Their Christian ceremony reflected their values beautifully, keeping things simple, heartfelt, and surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
This was more of an elopement—small, personal, and full of joy. They rented the Rose Garden and Japanese Garden in San Mateo Central Park venue for a relaxed outdoor ceremony under the gazebo, with only twelve guests. It was a day focused on love, laughter, and meaningful connections rather than a big crowd or grand decorations. Afterward, everyone headed to Devil’s Canyon Brewery for a casual celebration on a private patio with fire pits, food trucks, and live music—a fun, festival-like ending to a perfect day.

San Mateo Rose Garden Wedding Cost
Central Rose Garden in San Mateo is part of San Mateo Central Park and is available for rental through city services. It’s a beautiful, municipally managed outdoor spot. While the city does not publish fixed wedding pricing online, the cost often involves an application, permit fees, and cleanup deposit. Because this is a public garden, couples typically pay for liability insurance, staging, chairs, and other rentals separately. It tends to be more affordable than private commercial venues. For an intimate elopement, the total might be modest compared to full wedding venues, but exact pricing requires contacting the city’s parks or events department.
