As Seattle engagement photographers, there’s something so different about Marina Park that we love. Nestled along the shores of Lake Washington, Marina Park and the Al Locke Pavilion in Kirkland, Washington, offer one of the most scenic and versatile settings for an engagement session in the Seattle area. With waterfront views, lush green spaces, charming walkways, and a vibrant marina filled with boats, this location provides an incredible variety of backdrops within a short walking distance. It is easy to see why couples are drawn to this beautiful destination. The combination of natural beauty and waterfront charm creates a relaxed atmosphere where couples can simply enjoy being together while we capture authentic moments.
We photograph engagement sessions throughout Washington. We love photographing at Marina Park because every corner of the venue offers something unique. The shoreline creates a romantic backdrop with the sparkling water stretching into the distance, while the marina adds texture and visual interest with its collection of sailboats and yachts. The open lawn areas provide clean, timeless compositions, and the mature trees throughout the park create beautiful natural framing for portraits. Whether the weather is bright and sunny or slightly overcast like it was during Satara and Boston’s session, the location consistently delivers beautiful light that photographs wonderfully.
Marina Park Engagement Session Details
Satara and Boston’s engagement session perfectly reflected the laid-back and genuine connection they share. The couple first connected on Hinge in 2023 and quickly bonded over their love of baseball and their loyalty to the Seattle Mariners. Since then, their relationship has been filled with travel, hiking adventures, delicious food discoveries, movie nights, and countless shared experiences. Throughout their session, their comfort with one another was easy to see in every smile, laugh, and glance.
Their wardrobe complemented the natural beauty of the waterfront setting perfectly. Satara wore a flowing white dress with soft, elegant details that moved beautifully in the breeze coming off the lake. Boston chose a light-colored button-down shirt paired with neutral trousers, creating a timeless and coordinated look. The neutral tones allowed the natural scenery to shine while keeping the focus on the couple and their connection.
One of our favorite locations during the session was the waterfront lawn overlooking the marina. As the wind gently moved across the water, Satara’s dress flowed beautifully, adding movement and emotion to the portraits. The couple held each other close, exchanged smiles, and shared quiet moments that felt completely natural. These images captured not only the beauty of the location but also the excitement they share for the future.
We also explored some of the park’s quieter areas beneath the trees. The lush greenery created a soft and intimate setting where the couple could relax and focus entirely on each other. These shaded spots provided wonderful contrast to the waterfront views and added variety to their gallery. From handholds and laughter to gentle kisses and meaningful embraces, every moment reflected the genuine love they share.
At Original Weddings, we believe engagement sessions should feel natural, enjoyable, and true to each couple. Marina Park and the Al Locke Pavilion provide the perfect setting for creating those authentic moments. With its waterfront beauty, manicured landscapes, and endless photo opportunities, it remains one of our favorite engagement session locations in the Seattle area. Satara and Boston’s session was filled with joy, romance, and anticipation for the next chapter of their story, and we were honored to capture every moment. We can’t wait to capture yours next with the same care and intentionality, let’s connect!

1. How Soon After Getting Engaged Should You Take Engagement Photos?
Most couples schedule their engagement session within a few months of getting engaged, but there is no perfect timeline. Taking photos early gives you plenty of time to use the images for save-the-dates, wedding websites, and invitations. It also helps you become comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. At Original Weddings, engagement sessions are a great opportunity for us to get to know our couples and help them feel relaxed and confident before the big day.
2. What to Wear for Engagement Photos?
The best engagement session outfits are those that make you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourselves. Neutral tones, soft colors, and timeless styles tend to photograph beautifully in most locations. Coordinating outfits rather than matching exactly often creates a more natural look. Consider the season and location when choosing your wardrobe. Most importantly, wear something that reflects your personality and relationship. When couples feel comfortable in what they are wearing, it always shows in the final photographs.
3. What Are Common Engagement Photo Mistakes?
One of the most common mistakes couples make is choosing outfits that feel uncomfortable or unlike their everyday style. Another is focusing too much on posing instead of simply enjoying the experience together. Arriving rushed or stressed can also affect the session. We encourage couples to relax, trust their photographer, and focus on each other. Natural interactions, genuine laughter, and authentic moments almost always create the most meaningful engagement photographs.
