Matt sent Emily a DM to ask if she wanted to play golf with him. They hung out a bit that summer and then continued to hang out once college started. Matt asked Emily out a couple of times but she said no because their golf coach had basically forbidden dating between the two teams, so she was scared that he would find out. Eventually she didn’t care about what the coach said and told Matt she would go out with him. The rest is history. Their theme for the day echoed that kind of genuine connection: relaxed, joyful, full of happy friends and family and true to who they are.
