ZLAC Rowing Club Wedding // Amanda & Matthew

Amanda and Matthew’s ZLAC Rowing Club Wedding felt like everything we love about coastal weddings — breezy, bright, and effortlessly joyful. Tucked right on the water in San Diego, ZLAC Rowing Club gives you the best of both worlds: rustic charm and sparkling bay views. As wedding photographers, we were spoiled with natural light bouncing off the ocean and filtering through the trees, wrapping every moment in a golden, beachy glow.

The couple first crossed paths through mutual friends who are now married. For them, this day marked the perfect moment to begin their forever. Their celebration started with a heartfelt church ceremony, where they exchanged vows and promises of love. Afterwards, the festivities continued with a relaxed beachside reception at the scenic ZLAC Rowing Club.

The day had a relaxed, casual energy that matched the couple perfectly. Their royal blue and ivory tones popped against the warm wood interiors and sandy shoreline, creating such a clean, airy look. The florals by Barbara were especially stunning — lush arrangements overflowing with soft peach roses and sunlit yellow blooms. We loved capturing the little details: the sweet custom family sign tucked into the brick wall by the beach, their simple white cake adorned with tiny sunflowers and a mountain-inspired topper that nodded to their love for the outdoors.

One of the most stunning moments came as the newlyweds stood on the cliffs, framed by endless ocean. The sunlight danced across the water as they twirled and laughed, and it honestly felt like time stood still. Later, their wedding party joined them for portraits — the deep blue bridesmaid dresses catching the breeze and echoing the ocean behind them — before heading back to the club for an evening of laughter, dancing, and happy tears under the warm wooden beams.

This whole day radiated laid-back coastal charm, and every frame felt as natural and joyful as they are. ZLAC Rowing Club Wedding Venue

If you’re looking for a hidden gem in San Diego, ZLAC Rowing Club is it. Tucked right on Mission Bay at 1111 Pacific Beach Drive, this historic redwood clubhouse has that cozy, old-California charm while sitting just steps from the sand. It was designed back in 1932 by Lilian Rice, and it still has those timeless Craftsman-style details that make photos feel rich and warm. Between the breezy outdoor patio and the calm bay views, it’s perfect if you want a laid-back beach vibe without losing that touch of elegance and character.

ZLAC Rowing Club Wedding Cost

ZLAC Rowing Club keeps things simple, and couples love that. The venue comfortably fits around 150 guests and comes with a lot of built-in perks — tables, chairs, umbrellas, string lights, even on-site parking. They don’t post a full pricing sheet online, so you’ll need to contact their team for an exact quote for your date, but couples often mention that it’s surprisingly affordable for a waterfront San Diego venue. Plus, with the scenery doing so much of the decorating for you, you don’t need to go big on extra décor to make the space shine.

Weddings at ZLAC Rowing Club are a photographer’s dream. The way the light hits Mission Bay is unreal — soft, golden, and glowing, especially as the sun sets behind the water. We love capturing couples barefoot on the sand, framed by sailboats drifting in the background, or tucked inside the warm redwood clubhouse with its vintage charm. It’s the best mix of cozy and coastal. From golden-hour portraits to first dances under twinkly market lights, this venue makes it so easy to capture relaxed, joy-filled moments that feel just like the couple.
